Cost Action

Programme title: European Network In CHemical Ecology: translating the language of life into sustainability.
Funding Source: COST ACTION
Coordinator of the project: : Dr Anne-Geneviève Bagnères-Urbany, CNRS, France
Funding amount: 100%
Start Date: 6/10/2023
End Date: -
Duration: 4 years
The main aim and objective of the Action is to unify European players in chemical ecology, promoting visibility and sharing knowledge, tools, and platforms. E-NICHE will help unify the different branches of chemical ecology (CE) by bringing together researchers who study natural compounds that can act as semiochemicals (i.e., communication signals). At present, collaborations among these researchers are limited because CE is an extremely fragmented field. E-NICHE will foster partnerships between ecologists and biochemists, zoologists, botanists, and microbiologists, aquatic and terrestrial researchers. Via the new network created by E-NICHE, researchers will broaden their breadth of knowledge, define new research directions, and transform their discoveries into pioneering solutions

Programme title: Large-scale Interdisciplinary Alliance on Nature-based SoLutions and Health: Indicators, InequalitY and Innovation
Funding Source: COST ACTION
Coordinator of the project: Dr Marina Treskova, Heideberg University
Funding amount: 100%
Start Date: 21/10/2024
End Date: 20/10/2028
Duration: 4 years
Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are actions inspired and supported by nature itself, considered cost-effective while simultaneously providing environmental, social, and economic benefits to contribute positively to the required resilience against climate change. The LILY COST Action project focuses on the health impacts of NbS and addresses the absence of a comprehensive framework for health outcomes, gaps in NbS-health indicators, vulnerability, and inequalities. Thus, The LILY COST Action aims to develop NbS-health framework, guidelines and a network to facilitate information exchange. The BPI scientific team will participate in activities related to mosquito vectors. Specifically, the BPI team will contribute to the development of the project's initial framework by reviewing existing literature and methodologies, applied globally, to identify gaps in knowledge or practices. It will also engage in awareness-raising activities targeting stakeholders, such as healthcare professionals and environmental scientists. This awareness campaign will involve organizing workshops and working groups, focusing on both policy development and encouraging fostering their active stakeholder participation
