Programme title: Quality control bioassays for irradiated Aedes albopictus males. Testing quality control methods for irradiated Aedes albopictus males
Funding Source: Programme of Coordinated Research Activities (CRP) International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
Coordinator of the project: International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
Funding amount: 100%
Start Date: 20/2/2020
End Date: 30/6/2025
Duration: 4 years
The project is implemented with the participation of BPI as coordinator and is 100% financed by the Programme of Coordinated Research Activities (CRP) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The purpose of the project is to study the various parameters concerning the bioecology of the Aedes albopictus mosquito in relation to the sterilization dose, following the sterile male insect release program for its management in Greece. The study aims to develop and evaluate quality control protocols regarding demography, behavior and breeding strategies, using different sterilization doses, but also transport of the insects. The goal is to correlate the quality control protocols with the results from the pilot discharge program carried out in the Vravrona area.

Programme title: Packaging, formulations and systems for exposure reduction to hazardous substances in the workplace
Funding Source: : Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin (Germany)
Coordinator of the project: Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO)
Funding amount: 100%
Start Date: 16/1/2022
End Date: 15/1/2026
Duration: 4 years
The project with acronym “BAUA F2484” is implemented with the participation of BPI as a partner and financed 100% by the Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin. As the reduction of oral and inhalation exposure of workers to hazardous chemical substances in the workplace is a priority at European level, the aim of the project is to provide a structured overview of exposure reducing safe-by-design packaging, formulations and systems (sPFS) and its (qualitative) effectiveness on reducing exposure to workers. Besides a qualitative evaluation of sPFS, the project will also include a measurement study to evaluate the quantitative protective effect of a selected number of sPFS against inhalation and/or dermal exposure
