jection was carried out with the purge valve
closed for 1 min. Hydrogen (3 ml/min) and
air (60 ml/min) were used as fuel gases for
the NPD, while nitrogen (60 ml/min) and he-
lium (6 ml/min) were used as auxiliary gases
for the ECD. The temperature of both detec-
tors was set at 310
o
C. The data acquisition
and analysis was conducted with Chemsta-
tion chromatography data manager soft-
ware.
(d) Chopper
For the extraction of samples, a Janke
& Kunkel IKA Labortechnik Ultra-Turrax T25
was used.
(e) Centrifuge
A centrifuge Hellenic Labware ALC 4236
was used.
(f) Waterbath
A waterbath SWB was used
.
2. Preparation of samples
(a) Stock and Working solutions
Stock standard solutions for each pesti-
cide were prepared in acetone at 1,000 mg/l
and stored at -20
o
C. Standard mixture solu-
tions of the compounds were prepared in
2,2,4-trimethylpentane/toluene (90/10) at
intermediate concentrations (1-10mg/l) and
stored at -20
o
C. Three standard mixture so-
lutions of the compounds were prepared,
as shown in Table 2. The compounds select-
ed for each solution were chosen to achieve
better chromatographic separation and ac-
cording to the sensitivity of the compounds
to each detector. Matrix matched standard
